Biography (1994-Present)

I was born and raised in sunny Orlando, Florida, and I loved taking trips to nearby Cocoa Beach on weekends and over summers. I attended Oviedo High School, where I was on the varsity swimming and water polo teams. I was also a competitive surfer for a few years (although not a very good one).

I've always loved technology. I read my first Harry Potter book at the same time as my first programming book (Visual Basic for Dummies), and I've been captivated by the connection between magic and technology ever since. I love the power of technology to make people say "wow", and I enjoy building products that make people happier. I have programming experience in C/C++, Java, Processing, Python, Ruby-on-Rails, and front end HTML/CSS design, but I love learning new technologies and skills. I also have extensive data analysis and some data mining experience as a product of my various research projects over the years.

I've been heavily involved in research since middle school. A list of my research is available here. As a result of my research in innovative Human-Computer Interfaces, I was lead author of 3 research papers, including presentations at I/ITSEC, the world's largest simulation and training conference, and a publication in ACM Interactions, one of the Association for Computing Machinery's most read journals.

Recently, I've switched my focus to entrepreneurship. I'm currently the co-founder of Turftalk, a location-based social network, and Butucu, a platform for brick-and-mortar stores to connect with in-store customers.
